7210 vs 7410

Thinking about trading my 7410 for a lower hour 7210. Aside from a slight difference in HP is there any other differences? Tractordata has them as being pretty much identical. The only difference is in the range in shipping weight. It lists the upper end as being 300-400lbs heavier on the 7410. What option or difference would that be?

I always like going directly to the Nebraska test reports to research this kind of data. Doing this can help avoid confusion as to exactly what the shipping weight reported in TractorData refers to such as transmission option, tire size, etc. Comparing the Nebraska reports for the 7210 and 7410, both with the Syncroplus transmission and same size tires, shows the unballasted test weight within 70 pounds of each other. Since this weight includes the operator there is one unknown variable that could explain the difference. Front axle weight was exactly the same.

I would pass on any 10 series 19 spd. power shift..I changed 2 transmission cases on them last year, they broke out where the Park pawl is..and any one running one now should consider re-building the shifter,,what happens is the bushings in the shifter wear,,then when you come back to neutral, then park, the shifter switch stays in 1st. gear, then when you let the clutch out after you shift to park the pressure on the park pawl blows the side of the case out,,I don't want to scare any one,,but it does happen.

john e.c.mi The JD 7210 and 7410 are the same tractor other than HP. JD just charged more for the extra warranty. If you could look at production numbers there are way fewer JD 7210 ever sold than the JD 7410. The JD 7201 was not much higher in HP than the HD 6410. So if guys wanted a lower HP tractor they dropped to the 6000 series.

Tim the medium and large frame JD 7000s had the 19 sp. PS. That would have been the 7610,7710,& 7810. I sold 70% power Quad transmissions in them. Cheaper and smoother. The PS was jerking when the oil is cold. Guys hated the 19 sp. P.S. coming off the 15 sp. P.S.
