B height....garage door....

Can anybody take a measurement of what a 39-46 styled B height is to the top of the air cleaner stack? Muffler is irrelevant as its rotted off. Bought a B and its 60 miles away from me and want to make sure it will fit through my shop 7 foot door when I get it home. Did not think to measure it at the time.

Thanks

Take a look at the photo below of "[i:654c4848f0]Uncle Earl[/i:654c4848f0]" our 39B.

The height to the top of the air cleaner is approximately 71 inches.

In addition, the height to the top of the muffler is also approximately 71 inches.

Hope this helps.

Some insight from my Rural Western Minnesota Ancestral Barn Restoration. When I restored old original barn 20 years ago, the priority was John Deere "B" shed storage. So, therefore, I measured door opening carefully so that I could drive "B" in barn. Was limited for height by original barn design and restoration conditions. Conclusion for being able to drive "B" in Barn to clear muffler ( I know you said disregard muffler} and driver/operator ( stooping down for clearance ) is full EIGHT FEET. Tight fit here, but did work out very well. I would do it again the same way.

My '50 "B" with roll-o-matic front end just enters my garage w/7" door by one inch ! Late "B",s with roll-o-matic" front are quite a little taller than yours would be. I see no issue with yours and 7' door.

You won't have any trouble because I had a 49 JD A and it would go through a 7 foot garage door. It was harder on driver leaning over to clear the door.

What might fit and what might be safe while sitting on the driver seat is two different things my mind. Have a newer JD MCUT that fits ok IF the ROPS is folded down which makes it useless. Good you can keep it inside .

You should be fine. I used to park my late B in the garage with 7 foot door. I just had to trim some off the top of the muffler outlet pipe. My 720 fit too but had to unbolt muffler from it.

You shouldn't have any problem. I fit a 1953 John Deere 60 in my 7 foot high garage door. Barely fits though and I have to take the muffler off. But one thing I'd recommend if you're not sure about width is to identify the very center of the door by measuring the center (left to right) and marking it on the top of the door frame. Take a small nail and tap it in that spot. Then hang a spring or heavy nut by a string about a foot down. Line this up with the center of the hood when driving it in and you should have it centered so you don't have to worry about hitting the garage door side frame.
