630 PTO bevel gears

Looking at a flat back 630 with no PTO at all. What are the chances the bevel gear are actually in it.
I see no mention of no PTO bevel gears in parts book. Like spacers when PTO idler gear is not on crank,
plug for bevel gear shaft into first reduction cover. Etc.

What's the cost of admission to find out ? i.e. price of tractor. only way to know for sure.

As I recall, there's a hand operated pto engage/disengage lever on the 630. Isn't it in the vicinity of your left toe? If it's there, the gears probably are too. If, not, then the gears and probably lots of other parts aren't there either. My guess, too, is that all the pto drivetrain is left out to get the price of the flatback down as far as possible.

As noted, if the shift lever is there, then bet on the gears being there. Idea is that transmission unit was assembled the same for all and the pto delete was determined as the rear axle assy was finished. I'd leave it like that as no pto 630 is kinda unusual, at least in the northeast. Central Calif, more likely a delete as more tractors used just for cultivating. If you need pto, get another tractor, as the clutch rebuild for JD gets into BIG bucks real fast. Looks like you could make a twofer deal where it is by looking at the background. Would you share with me where it is? Looks like PA or NY by the trees/hills.

Right toe foot pedal between clutch lever and shift lever gear selector casting. I can see part of it by the clutch lever.

I now see that too. Be very interesting to remove that rear flat plate for a look in there !
All oil will need drained first.

lfnel is right about the hand level but it is between the pto foot pedal and the shift quadrant. So like George mentioned if the lever is there so are the bevel gears. Just had to go look at the 630 in the shed.

I can tell by the photo that the wide reduction cover is not there so there will be no other gears...basic transmission reduction...they obviously eliminated all the parts...probably tractor used on for special application...does have remotes but can't hardly understand the need for the 3 point...probably why tractor was parked or junked as very limited usage...and was special order. What a shame....
