'69 console 4020 electrical questions

After having 2cylinders for all my life i finally have moved up to a 4020D ser# in the 208xxx range.

Having to learn a whole new system and have some questions for the group.

The tractor has a new style gear reduction starter and single 12V automotive battery installed. I believe i need to replace the ignition switch and light switch as they both seem to have issues.
The current light switch has a resistor attached to the back. The switches for the later models (after 250000) does not have this resistor. Need to understand why the difference, and If I can install the later (less expensive) switch.

Also looking for a wiring diagram if anyone has it in a .PDF format it would be appreciated. I have a service manual on order but will be a while till it gets in. all i can find at jdparts online is for tractors up to 201000(generator)

Thanks
Howard

Difference in light switches is tractor below SN 250,000 have single head lamps on each fender while after SN 250001 have dual headlamps so resistor is required to dim single head lamps. If you're having problems getting starter to engage then I'll suggest to check operation of starter relay located above starter on firewall.

Thanks
someone must have swapped over dual headlight fenders since thats what I have. Guessing i can use the non-resistor light switch.
Planning on installing LED spot and flood lights anyway.

.

jd730des stated his 4020 is SN 208xxx range which would have been 12 volt from factory

Thank you for pointing that out . I also looked and my Manual is the SM2039 dated 04/01/1967 so probably not much help for a 1969 model....oh well it was a good try.
