Behlen / Govenor Box Pump

Will one of those pumps generate enough pressure to operate the Rock shaft & hydraulics cylinder so My Old POS 1944 John Deere A
so it would have a Live system? I am install Power steering on it some day in the future & dislike the looks of that holding tank
along side of the hood. I want to use the tractor reservoir instead of a tank. Has anyone ever tried it? I know the factory Pump Gear
in the PTO will have to be removed if I plumb it to the tractor. All I am creating is a snow plow tractor & don"t plan on mounting the
8" western plow on the front until it has Power steering.. There is Nothing on this old A that belongs on it anyways so why stop now.
I do have a reservoir tank I could mount inside the left frt frame rail but I got to thinking about live hydraulic system?

Our 48A has a Behlen hydraulic system installed for power steering.

Take a look at the photos below.

The system uses "[i:654c4848f0]the tractor reservoir instead of a tank[/i:654c4848f0]".

This system will "[i:654c4848f0]generate enough pressure to operate the Rock shaft & hydraulics cylinder[/i:654c4848f0]".

The rockshaft will raise a JD 350 sickle mower.

The system will raise the tailgate cylinders on a KRONE 125 round baler.

Note the shifter lever (Key 38).

Both the shifter lever and clutch must be engaged before the rockshaft and hydraulics for cylinders will operate on our 48A.

Hope this helps.

James, this tractor does have the PTO pump & Power trol system. I am assuming I can remove the PTO pump gear & thought
about only running the belhen pump for everything. If your tractor works I see no reason why I can't try it.. This 44 A
I have created is a Johnny Cash Special to a new level. I have more in it that any 3 people would give for it at a auction.
It went through a tornado in 1985, I have resurrected it from the grave because I didn't have anything to tinker with. I've
bought parts from Ebay & many other tractors & parts I had to create it & bring back to life. It runs very well, starts very
easy with a 12 Volt G top mount starter. Has a rock shaft & hydraulic housing with square battery box & a float ride seat from
a 520. We have & use many of 2 cylinders but it's biggest draw back was no power steering. I used the belt pulley & 1st reduction
gear to slow down the transmission from a 52 A. It is still a tad faster in road gear than 60's & 620. Used it all summer to haul
hay wagons to & fro from the upper farm,& cut & haul fire wood, has more power than I thought it would & after finding our how well
it dives & pull's I decided to enhance the steering. It steers nice with a 5' hayledge bale on the 3ph. Like I've said I have a 8'
western plow I picked up cheap & a winter front I bought off Ebay 3 years for 25.00. All of my intensions were was to get a tractor
& use up parts I had laying around which I have done. Was getting tired of just looking at them & thought about scraping them all out
just so I wouldn't have to look at them. It is truly hand built from the draw bar pin to the frt wheel bearings.

James, Might you have any pictures as to how your tractor is plumbed into the power trol system. The pump I have has one different port than your pump, has two coming out the top & not off the rear side like yours. It might be tricky to make everything clear my governor linkage.
