Im assembling my 2 speed planetary on a 4440 QR and ran into a issue. I do not have any timing marks on either sun gear. I do have timing
marks on all three planet gears. How do I time the gears without marks? Anybody had this issue? Thank you.

Not knowing for sure or what all is in there my first thought is what would they be timed for ? or to ? But I'm thinking of a final drive planetary and I'm thinking they don't end up in the same spot very often ?

Just line up the marks on the pinions with the edge of the carrier. They need to be timed to each other so they don't bind on the sun gears. When timed properly it should turn freely and the sun gears should be centered with each other.

Cliff has it. You just need the planet gears to be all in the same "time". You can point the marks anywhere you like as long as you do it the same on each one.

Easy to see harder to explain. If not timed the output section will bind on output driven sun gear. Hope I said that right!

Must have notches or something in the gears ? I sure would not tackle a job this major without a service manual as info like this is bound to be in it.
