Has anyone attached a flexplate/flywheel to to the PTO shaft and added a starter to a non starter B?

Wouldn't it be easier to get a flywheel, starter and bracket off a late B?

Yes..if it was my tractor. It is a Pal s and I agreed to help. Heck I m not even a JD lover and my cure would be to replace the B with an Oliver. Seriously I would still think an ingenious chap would have already done the conversion. If you do a google of F12 and hand made electric starter, you might see how a couple Farmall boys added a starter. Quite sucessfully as well.

To me it doesn't make sense to re-engineer parts that are readily available from a donor tractor.....

Maybe it's an unstyled B, and parts are NOT readily available?

Hard on the knuckles if you HAD to start it by hand when the battery goes dead....
