I have John Deere 40T All Fuel all original including shutters and Fuel shut off
Can anyone tell me if it is rare or not. How many were built

There were 17,906 model 40Ts built. More than any other model 40.

Standard 670
Utility 175
Tricycle 1085
Crawler 307
Two row Utility (W) 67
Special (V) 3
High Crop 37
Total of all models of 40's was 51,341 of which 18,991 were T's.

I don't know where MSD got his info or whether or not it's correct.

I can tell you that Mr. Thinkers Almanac has this info on model 40 tractors:

T- 17,443 Gas 473 AF
S- 11,161 Gas 653 AF
C- 11,407 Gas 282 AF
U- 5,067 Gas 141 AF
W- 1,698 Gas 60 AF
V- 326 Gas 3 AF
H- 259 Gas 35 AF

Grand Total 48,998

My numbers came from the Mar/April 97 issue of 2 Cyl. Magazine. I'm sure there are plenty of different totals out there for each model depending on who you ask and at this point nobody can give a definite number to that model.
