Forgive me for seeking help on this sight for something this new. I was helping a windshield tech try to install a windshield for this tractor. After a few hours of effort we finally called john deere service and asked if there was a trick to getting the bottom of the windshield in the z brackets located in between the fire wall and the steering console. He said the manual reads pull the cab, Now I am sure that would solve one problem by creating a whole lot of work. Maybe someone out there has heard of a better solution? the window uses a compression gasket not glued like the 8k series. no youtube videos out there for 6k series, Looks like the roof comes up or the cab. I am looking for some good ole common sense problem solving help. thanks

I have never dealt with one of those, but it's hard to believe they want you to pull the cab to repair a window...what kind of forward thinking was that....

I changed one out in a 6410 here a while back. Yes the paper work that came with the new glass showed doing the job with the cab off. I managed to do it without doing that but it was a struggle. With regard to the brackets between the steer console and the fire wall, I used a hole saw and cut two holes to access the hardware to loosen the bracket. It was not a fun job and I had the feeling I was going to own that glass a couple of times before I got it in. Not sure if tilting the cab to the side as is done to access the transmission would help

well this job is not the top priority right now but I will post the final solution when completed. I would agree that pulling the cab seems extreme. It shows how much effort goes into design and how much into repair. thanks for the post
