Recently moved my 70 gas from NC to PA. I noticed when I started it, the tach is running about 200 rpms higher than what it did before, but the engine is running at the same speed. Is my tach shot? Thanks all!

I was going to suggest a different time zone or daylight saving time affecting the reading .
The actual place to start would be using a laser tachometer and a strip of white tape on the pulley to know the actual rpm.

I am curious to follow this as well. I purchased a JD 70 earlier this year and the tach cable was broken. I purchased a replacement cable but when installed it looks like it is running about 200 rpm faster than my timing light "tach" function. I was wondering if a small spacer would make any difference.

(quoted from post at 09:12:05 11/15/18) Find you a Hand held tach and check it. I have one and I use it often.

I think the follow up question may be, is there a way to adjust it if it is found to be off? I've confirmed mine is off but would like to tweek it a bit.
