John Deere 50 fuel coming out of exhaust, carb issue?

Have a JD 50 that has been sitting for 3 years. New fuel, cleaned sediment bowl. When cranking, tractor wont start, noticed gas around muffler/exhaust area - and carb and can smell gas. I imaging there is a carb issue - float sticking? What should I look for?

Thanks!

I'd bet you have both a spark and a carb problem. Lack of spark means more gas in the cylinders then there should be but also a stuck float. Sound like it is time to carefully check your spark and also rebuild the cab. One that has sat that long things tend to rust and corrode which in turn causes lack of spark and stuck float

Take your bowl off the carb and check the needle valve. Mine used to stick once in a while. Since I have been using non ethanol gas I have not had this problem.
