555 John Deere Crawler Sterring Brakes Adjustment

Hi,
My husband wants to know if anyone has info on adjusting steering brakes and clutch on a JD 555 Crawler. Does he have to take it off the tracks, etc? I don't know anything about it, so I may be asking the wrong question, but he needs info on doing this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The steering brakes can be adjusted from the outside of the machine..Right above the drive sprocket , under the tank assembly ,you will find a plug with a 3/4" drive square in it..Slightly forward of the sprocket..Take the plug out and inside you will find a serrated wheel..This wheel acts just like a brake adjuster on a car or truck..With a screwdriver you will be able to turn the wheel in a clockwise [ right hand thread ] direction..Turn it a couple of clicks and try the steering lever for tightness..Do the same on the other side.. Remember , not to adjust these too tight, as they will drag the brakes and cause damage to brake components..If the adjuster wheels won't turn , the brakes are probably adjusted to their limits and need to be repaired..

Thank you Roy!!! Do you know how to do the clutch adjustments as well?? Would appreciate any help.
Kind Regards, Audrey
