Battery Boxes for 3020, 4020, 3010, etc

Where do you guys get battery boxes for say a 3020 or others? I bought some last year off Ebay and they were not made as well as I would have liked, yes they were cheaper ones but John Deeres price is out the door. Thought about Shoup but wasnt sure if anyone had experience with theirs. Trying to find ones that are already painted with brackets ready to go.

I tried the cheaper aftermarket ones and am not impressed. I bought a genuine jd box and it is a lot better made. I know they're quite a bit more money but if you can swing it I'd go that route. I know you can get a medium quality am version to but haven't been around those.

I bought the cheaper ones and sprayed bed liner in them. So far so good.

I have been impressed with Shoup, both the product and shipping speed.

I suggest you call and talk to them about their battery boxes. I have no direct experience with their battery boxes but quality of other products have at least earned them a phone call.

I have been getting mine from Riley Tractor Parts as they are heavier than some of the others. I think you have to have a dealer account to buy from them. We have been a Riley dealer for 25 years. Tom

I have seen 2 kinds of aftermarket boxes. The RTP is not very thick. The advantage is quite thicker / heavier. The heavy duty ones have the brackets welded on like the factory JD ones. So they need different PN for the earlier and later series, which probably increase the cost. The advantage HD is about $100 while you can find RTP ones for $55.

On the RTP ones, the first thing to do is to throw away the grade 0.5 hardware or whatever junk that is and get some grade 5 or 8 gold plated bolts for the battery supports.

This is the brand sold by Abylene Machine. Their products are usually painted in a yellow/brown primer.

Search eBay user Plowboyequipment. They sell ones in primer and brackets are attached. They are as heavy as John Deere but you have to paint them. $94 with shipping for 1 but if you order 2 I think the combined shipping is less

Genuine box from Mother Deere is $90.46. A&I is $70.86 and you have to paint it.

I just put in the part numbers I need which are AR40189 and AR40208 into Deere and one is 103 and the other is 179, not sure why one is so much higher but I feel those prices are crazy. Wish my Deere prices were 90 a piece. Thanks for all the help identifying other places to get them.

My search of JD parts show battery boxes for older models('64-'68) are higher than what you listed.

My dealer price is the same as yours 90.46. Wish that was the part number I needed but I need for a 3020. I wonder what the big difference is though because when I look at Abilene or most other places it lists it working for a 3010, 3020, 4010, 4020, 4320, 4520, 4620

Probably because some aftermarket boxes have bolt on brackets on the bottom. You use either early or late model brackets on a common box.
