2440 Keeps Going Dead

My 2440 John Deere had a fuel line leak going from the filter to the injector pump. I put a new fuel line on it and a new filter. It starts up and idles ok. When I give it throttle, it will only go up to about 1500 rpms. It will run about 30 seconds at 1500 rpms and then goes dead. If I push the throttle back it will start back up again. But it will not stay running over 1500 rpms. Does anyone have any suggestions about what is causing this?

More than likely the drive ring in jnj pump is deteriorating clogging fitting(key 16) causing pressure inside inj pump inside to rise to high keeping inj pump from pumping. Loosen screws on timing window(key 20) to allow fuel to leak out or remove fitting(key 16). Start engine & if engine will run properly inj pump requires repair.
