Plug in engine heater for JD 310c Backhoe

Does anyone have a preference for what type of plug in engine heater for a 310c back hoe. I'm not sure if a water unit put in a freeze plug would be the best or not. Thanks for any help.

JD shows an in block heating element which I would prefer because less opportunity for a coolant leak. JD part number is AT74940

Agreed, in block anytime they are available. Less chance of leaks and usually a smaller wattage than external heaters will work as well or better.
