John Deere 5055 e

A neighbor of mine is considering buying a used JD 5055 E from a local dealer. The dealer has 3 used models to chose from.

He started with the one with less the 200 hours ,and was using it for a short time as a demo when the tractor started to act up, and it would just stop and would not go into gear.
You could put it into gear, with all three shift levers however the neutral light would still remain lit.
After some time and effort the light would go off and you could start to move again.
Then it started to die when it started to sense it laboring on a upgrade however small it was, and than it would just cut off completely.
After you would crank it a few times it would restart and be fine until the next small hill, or it would just drop out of gear.

My neighbor contacted the dealer and they brought out another tractor (5055 E) and the very next day that tractor did the very same thing.
The dealer has three of these tractors. They are all used. They all have less then 300 hours on them. They have all been traded in on another tractor.

Is anyone aware of any issues regarding these tractors?

My neighbor is looking for a tractor , but not tractor problems.

All three of these tractors are out of the factory warranty period.

The dealer also has a 5075 E with a cab.Does anyone have any thumbs up or down regarding that model ?

Appreciate any help you can give me..

Probably the reason they were traded in. If they are problematic at 300 hours think what they will be
like at 2-3000 hours. Out of warranty, so the new owner gets to pick up the $100+/ hour service bill in
hopes of a lasting repair.Who ever buys them will have the dealer on speed dial.
