1010 RS power steering

The manual says use SAE 80 multipurpose lubricant, which I'm assuming is like modern day 80W-90 gear oil? Seems awfully thick for a p/s pump. What are others using in theirs? Anyone know the approximate capacity to drain and refill? Thanks.

The 80W is originally spec'd for the gear boxes. I use corn head grease in the gear boxes, it lubes well and doesn't leak past the seals like gear oil does. It should plumb in to the tractors hydraulic system through a diverter valve to operate the steering, which would use what ever fluid you have in the hydraulic system.

The 1010 didn?t have a ps pump, they used the tractor hydraulic pump for the power assist steering. It used regular hydraulic fluid.
