Deere pto guard

I'm looking at purchasing a 1957 Deere 620.
I unfortunately will not be able to see it in person, but only view it from the pictures online due to long distance.

I noticed on the rear it has the PTO flipper guard and not the tradition cover. Why did some tractors come with the flip cover and others had the
traditional shroud?

When new the tractor should have been delivered with both. The flip up guard would be raised up and held in place with the square pto cover when it was used. The square cover is probably in never-never land along with all the top links,3 point hitches, wheel weights, front weights, remote plugs and sway blocks that are never on the tractors when you buy them today

When Mounted plows were used on these tractors, the larger PTO shield had to be removed and the flipper allowed to drop over the PTO shaft..

If you didnt, you just may loose the large shield while plowing..

That is why they were made to be easilly removed..
