50 coil

Was going to replace my coil on my 50 while doing a general tune up. It was a wico xb4023 distributor. My new spare coil does not have the metal bracket on it like the one on the tractor now. Is that bracket removable from the old coil to the new one. Did not want to tear the old coil apart trying to remove it. The coil fits inside the distributor under the cap.

Sounds like a mag not a distributor.

The metal bracket can be removed from the old coil, but the old coil
probably won?t survive.
One thing to look at is the grounding for the condenser, can mimick
coil problem. Some condensers had a wave washer under the condenser
down in the hole, some use a short coil spring.

He may or may not have modified it to another coil ??? The Wico X and C are Magnetos while the Wico XB is a battery powered distributor ignition which were NOT my favorite lol
