the rockshaft cam follower must be in upright position so that roller can pull it when one wants to lift up / down 3 pt hitch. pn r49336 has two holes. i assume mine is missing a pin causing it to hang down.
jd online parts diagram 4230 section 70 ==> 52 (load control for quad range) item 8 shows one hole. does item 6 (pin fastener & spring) hold it in place ? i have seen a video with cover removed and it shows a roll pin thru it.

do i just put a hardened roll pin ? seems like i should be able to find pin in parts diagram. thanks

The little bump.knob..that I have circled is what holds it in place till you drop the rockshaft down onto it,,it is not needed once it's in place, i have seen them get sheared off some how during the repairs,,you can hold it in place with vise grips or the like and once it starts to settle down in place remove them,, you will not get a hole drilled into it..it is very hard material...

upon closer inspection, i do not have a 2nd hole. even with a vice grip to hold arm upright, how does one prevent arm from falling backwards away from roller (towards rear end pto side) while removing vice grips ? thanks

The lever gets captured in the arm behind the lever,, I get one like that in here now and then,, I use a medium pair of vise grips with a wire wrapped around the handle to keep them from getting away...

i read jd service manual and saw pics on how roller goes "behind" roller. i thought it went ahead & this made no sense.
