1952 Model A Cooling System

My 52 model A has been overheating lately. The temperature climbs up to about 240 degrees after about 45 minutes of mowing. It use
to run about 180 or 190 all day long. I am not sure what has changed. This is a later model A with a water pump but it is not
pressurized. The radiator core is old but currently not leaking. This winter I plan to tear into it. I am wondering where to
start looking. I will pull the water pump and check that. I am prepared to recore the radiator but am hoping not to have to do
that. Please give me you thoughts.

With the engine off, can you turn the fan by hand, if so the fan clutches are gone., Also, are you sure its actually getting that hot.

May sound too simple, but when my "A" started running warmer than normal, I opened the radiator cap, and noticed that after about ten years, some of my coolant had evaporated. Topped off the radiator, and it has run fine and cool, for several years, since then.

What do you expect to find when you remove the pump.
If the bearing does not wobble and the pump is not
leaking there's no point in removing it. The impeller
is not plastic.
If the fluid level is OK you might need to check air
flow and coolant flow.

Remember , the '52 "A" had a water pump because the radiators were made of "steel" as apposed to copper because of the Korean war not letting industry use copper as they needed it for the war effort. If it still has the steel rad....that is probably your problem.
