John Deere A wheel hub removal

So here’s what I have 1949 jd A with the rear rim coller/yoke/wedge (not sure what the correct term is) on the inside of the rim. I am trying to remove it so I can make the rear tires narrower. Have soaked them in penetrating fluid, removed the bolts and put them in the two adjacent holes used to press the rim away from the collers with no luck. Have drove a chisel between the rim and the coller moved a little but still hasn’t released. Have also used a sledge hammer and a bar to try to knock it off still no luck. Looking for advice before I break something

Maybe try new bolts to go against the collar. You have to alternate pressure on either side. Some times you need to clean out those threads first. Ron MN

I did clean threads with a tap and have alternated pressure to prevent it being in a bind

It took me a couple of weeks to get mine to move on my 50 A.
I put as much pressure on them as I dared with the bolts and then soaked the collars in liquid wrench. Every morning I would spray them before I went to work. In the evening I would put more pressure on the bolts and tap collar and bolts with a hammer. Mine had been in the same spot for 30 years or more but they finally came loose.

Penetrating oil..let soak a reasonable time, tighten the Jack Bolts Tight, apply Heat to that Collar...then add more pressure to the Jack Bolts..

Originally, Waxed Paper was advised to be used under that Collar to aid in removal the next time..

Once the collar is off, that wheel off the ground.. rotate the wheel by hand and stab the Brake a few times in either direction to break the splines loose..DO NOT use heavy oil or grease on the Axel splines..if you do, the hub will NEVER Clamp enough to keep from slipping in or out..

to pull the wheel IN, wrap a rather light chain around the axel casting and loop it thru 2 opposite wheel-center slots and rotate by hand to pull the wheel in..

to pull the3m OUT, we reversed it by running a light chain (Looped) thru the wheel slots, out to the drawbar of another tractor..again, turning the wheel by hand to wrap the chain up, pulling the wheel out..

A Tree would work as well..!!

Hope this is of some value..!
