Any tips or tricks before I work on my leaking lift cylinders? Looks pretty straight forward from looking at the parts book. Mother Deere is sure proud of their seal kit. $96 and change per cylinder.

Take outer snap ring loose, then push guide in to remove inner snap ring, might have to remove a ridge from the inner ring, if not clean it up good before installing the new seals.

You will be surprised how hard they will pull apart. Most likely you will need a tractor to pull the cylinder out of the barrel once both of the snap rings are removed.

I did one of ours. Should of done both at the same time. Other one started leaking from the rod seal some. I forget how I pulled it apart ? but I do remember having to mount the rod end back on the tractor to hold it good enough to get the packing nut loose. I also think a cheater bar was needed on the breaker bar. I stood it upright when putting it back together. Used a rope from a rafter to lower it down IIRC. Tried to carefully push the Vee packing in with a small screw driver but still shaved a little off of one vee.

My only tip - don't wear your Sunday bibs and tee shirt. I think that is about the nastiest job I've ever undertaken. Just when you think you have it completely drained, it will prove you wrong. I've been inside a lot of stuff, but most of it won't squirt you like a hydraulic cylinder will, ha.

There's a sign on the front door of the local Deere dealer that says something like - "All hoses and cylinders must come in the BACK door".

Looked at Baum's website. Their price is about 30% of Deere. Deere's kit shows 7 pieces included. Baum's has maybe only 3 pieces. Are all the pieces in the Deere kit always needed? Will the 3 piece Baum kit do the job? Loader currently works fine. No damage. Just old age leaks showing up. Thanks.
