JD 2 cycle hercules

Looking for opinions on the value of this JD 2 cylinder Hercules engine/power unit. Appears to be complete but may need a magneto. Parts not appearing in photo include exhaust and carburetor but are available.

I've got a couple of 'em, so I watch values at auctions and on the 'net.

From what I'm seeing, RUNNING, $50 to $300, typically, on a GOOD day/location.

'Course there's ALWAYS someone out there who REALLY wants/NEEDS something!

I'm pretty sure that is not a Hercules engine but rather the more common JD LUC. A complete one you can start and run might fetch $ 400 or $ 500 ? So one missing parts and not running should not be too much.

Aren't the block and bell housing on a Herc one casting? That's what the pic looks like to me, maybe I'm wrong.

Actually, the other way around. The Hercules engines had the separate bellhousings, the units made by DEERE were a one-piece casting, IMHO.

I should have brought up that it was a DEERE in the photo in my first post, and that the engines I have are DEERE.

JD is one casting : Herc is separate pcs.

Its definitely a JD engine, you can put your hand between the spark plugs. On a Hercules you can only get 2-3 fingers.
