Reliance offers standard and high compression OH kits w/high compression kits being much higher$$$$, are they worth the added expense?

The hi compression will start much better in cold weather. I have used several and like them but do find the rings are hard to get to seat. Make sure to use break in oil and put it on a dyno if available. Tom

I like the high compression kits for the JD 4020 and JD 4230s. They make them start much better. I have had good luck with Relaince kits.

FWIW, after we installed the Reliance high comp. kit in our '72 4020 the cold starting ability was noticeably improved but objectively speaking how much of that was due to the new injectors, new valves & seats with valve protrusion set at max. spec., & the better ring seal that comes with a fresh engine. Hard to quantify or say but I think I'd still be inclined to use their high comp. cylinder packs on our other tractors when the time comes........
