1944 JD B 3 Point

Hi all. Thanks in advance for any advice. I am looking at putting a 3 point on my 44 B. I see some aftermarket ones that look like they work. I only have the lift arms and not the powertrol setup. At most I would probably use a brush hog for my trails. Does this sound like a possible project? Thanks again!!

Yes.

Take a look at the [b:654c4848f0]BASIC POWER LIFT (SPECIAL EQUIPMENT)[/b:654c4848f0] diagram below.

Note the basic power lift was installed on Model B tractors manufactured from 1939 through early 1947.

Reviewed the [b:654c4848f0]Hydraulic Equipment SERVICE MANUAL John Deere Waterloo Works SM-2011 (Dec-52)[/b:654c4848f0] in the [b:654c4848f0]SECTION 20 - THEORY OF OPERATION Group 15-Power Lift for A, B, and G Tractors[/b:654c4848f0] under the [b:654c4848f0]GENERAL[/b:654c4848f0] heading on page 20-15-1.

Take a look at the information below.

If a fully "[i:654c4848f0]functional[/i:654c4848f0]" 3 point is installed on your Model B, then the fully "[i:654c4848f0]functional[/i:654c4848f0]" Power Lift should power an "[i:654c4848f0]appropriately[/i:654c4848f0]" matched bush hog.

Hope this helps.

There was a service bulletin on converting the power lift to lever operation for loader use that would make using your setup with a 3pt hitch much easier. In after the war deere brought out the power-trol for remote cylinder operation. The power-trol valves from later A&B tractors will mount on your tractor and make life much easier with a 3pt hitch.

you can just swap the power lift valve box out for a later power troll valve box and all will work better.

Thank you. What is the difference between the two systems? Does the power trol give you infinite stopping positioning?

The power troll lets you hook up an external cylinder too. Plus you can raise and lower and stop any where you want to.
