Air breather on a 4440

Hi all
Can someone tell me the purpose of the pipe running from the air breather to the muffler
I have seen this on tractors and combines and was woundering what it is for

It is an aftermarket precleaner setup that uses an "aspirator" on the exhaust stack to draw out dust captured by the precleaner and blow it out with the exhaust.

The purpose of which is to keep the dirt out of the main airfilter, so it requires less servicing.

We found on our 4850 that it was really good and
plugging the air filter with soot

There was something wrong with the Venturi and the pressure on the exhaust side was higher than on the filter side . Was the pump turned up ?
