Having electrical issues with John Deere 750. I have replaced the following: Battery, starter, voltage regulator, alternator and a good portion of wiring. Everything is working fine except the voltage regulator is not putting out any DC voltage on the red output wire. It has been to the John Deere dealer and all they did was tighten up a wire that they said was loose at battery. Approx 3 volts at wire. Any suggestions?? Any help would be appreciated.

They have a permanent magnet alternator that puts out about 28 Volts ALTERNATING CURRENT, much like the under-flywheel alternator on a small air-cooled engine.

The regulator/rectifier unit rectifies the voltage to DC and regulates it at around 14 Volts.

First, check that the AC voltage from the alternator is reaching the rectifier/regulator.

They can be prone to electrical connector issues.

Unplug it from the regulator and check the blue wires at the plug? Does it matter which blue wire connects the regulator? i had a bad male/female plug and replaced the connectors.

The blue wires carry AC current and can be swapped with each other at the connector with no change in charging performance.

A = Blue = One of charging wires from alternator.

B = Black = Ground.

C = Blue = Other charging wire from alternator.

D = Green = (Connects to yellow-green) sends voltage to the charge warning light when the system isn't charging and warning light is needed.

E = Yellow = Gets power from key switch when switch is "ON" to signal the regulator to operate and to operate the charge light as needed.

F = Red = Charging wire, goes to post on starter solenoid where (+) battery cable connects.
