Anybody have these steps on their tractors ?

I have been on a couple of tractors with those installed. Really like them ! I wanted to put one on the 4020 with a 158 loader but have yet to find out if they make one that is compatible with the loader installed.
The factory little steps are fine when young but not worth a darn as I get older and my knees get cracklier.

I have them on both of my 2510's. They're really nice to have. I've had them on my first 2510 for several years. They came from Sloans and are K & M brand. I really like that one. The second nf 2510 I bought last year. I got those through Shoup. I just assumed they were the same. They're not as sturdy or well built. There was no marking on them at all. They are very similar. I don't honestly know if they're a different brand or K&M cheapened them up some. Either way it's still better than the factory steps. The big drawback is getting under them to change the hyd filter and going around them to get to the batteries. Still worth it though. On my 4010 they wouldn't fit because of the loader mounts so I adapted a set of steps from a 4620. Not as nice as the others but still better than factory. The thing I like the best is none of these steps are permanently mounted so they can be taken off easily.

I have a set on our 4520. We made a small change to the mounting bracket. I like them much more than the factory ones as the 4520 was like climbing a ladder to get on. As I get older I have been thinking about some for a few of the 3020's and 4020's here. Tom

I have them on a 4440 and a 4455.Took the factory step and put on the other side.Works great for cleaning the cab windows.Going to put a set on the 4000 next.Sure makes it easy to climb.

I don?t know how different a 148 loader is from a 158 loader, but Dad put a set of K&M steps on his 4020 with 148 loader. Works great. Wayne

I have the K&M steps on my 4010 just like what is in Kansas4010 pictures. Also with the little triangle step at the top by the platform/battery box too. I also have several on the red tractors as well. So much nicer to get off/on.

Thanks for the replies . I can still get on ok I ride a horse that?s 16 hands tall so I can still flex but my old fat dog can?t . Not that I ain?t fat and old but .

I have a set of K&M steps (with hand rail) on a 4640. They are much easier to scale than the factory steps. I got mine online from Sloans, through Amazon for $225 this spring. As was stated, a 10 or 20 series will need the extra triangle shaped platform filler piece.

I also made a lower step for a 3020 with some extra iron we had laying around. That worked out fine too.

It looks like your steps work well with loader brackets for a 148 or similar loader on the tractor. Did you have to modify either the steps or the loader brackets?

SV, I have both K&M and JD step kits. I like them both but I like the JD better. The JD steps are stronger, flex less, and in my mind are a much more refined design.

One thing you might look at. The JD kit gives you steps and hand rail for one price. Also, spring sales often have the steps at a reduced price. I believe the K&M steps require you to buy the handle separate. Check that out and compare apples and apples.

I also made a right hand step kit for mine and my neighbors 50 and 55 series which includes a tool box mounting plate. I use JD step treads and K&M Right Hand Rails. Having made my own, both the JD and K&M prices are not so bad for such a nice product.

By the way, I love the K&M toolbox in my first picture. I just wish that toolbox was a little less expensive or I would have more.

Mine own Right Hand Step Kit on 4055 MFWD with Tool Box mount to clear front tire and fender.

The steps have to go on the outside and bolt through the frame rail reinforcement. Only modification to the step at is at the bolt in the first picture on top to the right side of the picture looking at it had to be moved to accommodate the thickness of the rail reinforcement. Seemed like the only good place to put another tool box. The loader is a 48.

I like the K&M for the price but the JD steps are heavier duty. They also adjust more to fit around loader brackets better. The picture is a set of K&M economy steps on one of my JD 4020s.

K&&M makes a good product are on many tractors. An alternative is the 30 series double step with a square 1in tube mounted at an angle where normal small step would be.There is also one shown in Green Magazine a double small step mounted under existing step..The Hinsen and Stolper cabs plus IH cabs with the stair step were not very well thought out.On the open station tractor 20 series I still prefer the original small step but that's just me.
