I recently purchased a 1953 JD 40 Tricycle. This tractor has dual Touch - O - Magic lift which has me puzzled My guess is one for front
Cultivators and the other is for the three point hitch. I can?t find any information on how to operate the two lifts. I will only be using the three
point lift. Why do the two lifts need to be pinned together, also there is a lever under the seat on the lift side. What is this control for and what
position should it be placed. If anyone has any information or can tell me which publication I need. Thanks

Reviewed the [b:654c4848f0]OPERATOR'S MANUAL OM-T2-455 JOHN DEERE TRACTOR MODEL 40[/b:654c4848f0] in the [b:654c4848f0]OPERATING TRACTOR[/b:654c4848f0] section under the [b:654c4848f0]DUEL TOUCH-O-MATIC[/b:654c4848f0] on pages 27 and 28.

The Touch-O-Matic selector lever allows the use of the two cylinders independently.

If you "[i:654c4848f0]will only be using the three point lift[/i:654c4848f0]", then the selector lever must be in the [b:654c4848f0]REAR[/b:654c4848f0] position pointed towards the rear of the tractor.

Hope this helps.

Take a look at the photo below of the cover of the Model 40 operator's manual [b:654c4848f0]OM-T2-455[/b:654c4848f0] for your 40T.
