Good morning all,
We have a model 2440 that continues to plague us with steering problems. the steering is such that it requires a full 1 1/4 turn of the steering wheel before the wheels actually turn. Yes, there is actually that much slack in the steering. The slack is more obvious with engine running.
We have replaced the steering valve 3 times and it works good for about a month, maybe 50 hours or so. Then it gradually but over a short period of time, like a day) we get the slack back.
all parts "below" the cowling have been replaced. The are two parts worn badly but it's hard to think they would have such an impact. these parts are the shaft and lever part Numbers T36482 and T28272 which are part of the steering arm and drag link assembly. I have attached a photo below.
Will try about anything to get this back running right. We use it mainly for bush hogging pastures amd they are getting out of hand.
