John Deere 60 rockshaft won't stay up at all

Seeking help with my JD 60 rockshaft. Used all winter with a 3 pt bush hog and didn't sag at all. Took the 3 pt off this summer for mounting my no. 5 mower and just put it back on this week. Now the 3pt raises but immediately drops. However my hydraulics still work fine. I used it with my 1209 haybine and it lifts and holds in place. I checked the powrtrol level and it has more than enough oil and I checked my transmission level to see if it was gaining oil from a blown out rockshaft gasket but it looks normal (though there was some froth on the surface). Should I be thinking a check valve in the powrtrol or a oil ring on the rockshaft cylinder or something else completely? Thanks,

Pete

Have the same problem with our 70,my first step was pull the back of the tractor off to check the piston O-ring, after that pulled the pump and checked the seal, also checked the valving and check valves. All it can be is the gasket between the valve body and housing. Mine worked good going to plow days before the day was over it would no longer hold the plows up. Good Luck with yours.

Replace the packings on the rockshaft piston and use a new gasket . rebuild the pump while you are there ,bushing and seal .

o replace the gasket behind the rockshaft cylinder I have to unbolt the rockshaft housing. Does that come off when unbolted or do I need to take anything apart in the PTO clutch housing first? It is a live PTO and the service manual doesn't indicate that anything need be done to the PTO to get it out but I just wanted to check. Thanks,

Pete
