5525 electircal problems

my tractor has the power reverser and it doesn't work forward or reverse and the 4 wheel drive light is on and no RPMs reguester. All the fuses and lights work. It starts just will not move. when I move the pto leaver just off the lock position the 4 wheel drive light goes out and the RPMs show up and it then moves and shifts normal. Of course the PTO light is on now and the pto is not turning because its not engaged . I wounder if I drive it this way if I will be rubbing on the pto clutch. Is there a book or page that shows where all the different sensers are and how to get to them. there is so much plastic and wires. How do you trouble shoot stuff like this.

Well I have the problem sort of fixed. I popped the plastic cover over the dash so I could get to the wires and the problem sort of fixed its self. So must of been a loose connection. would it help if I but some electrical grease on all the connectors or would that just make a mess for all the dirt to stick to. does anyone know where I can find an electircal diagram showing where all these wires go. There are so many wires and connectors and I have no idea which ones go where and it's not possible to figure out which one is the problem without a diagram. This must be a common problem for all these newer tractors as they get older. What have you all done to fix your problems? Would grease help or just make it harder down the road. Now I don't trust the tractor as this problem will happen again. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

A small amount of dielectric grease under each fitting maybe,,but dust would surely make it a mess latter..I would do some wiggle and shaking with the wires to see if they fail,,Ghostly things like this are hard to sort out...

thanks for the response. Have you ever used the spray cleaners for electrical parts? I would hate to make the problem worse by using something that I should of known better and finding out the hard way. I'm to old to learn that way and I have never used the stuff. Of course I never had a tractor that had this much electronical stuff to worry about. I was left in the old days and don't even have a smart phone. Any experience you all can pass on will be welcome.

Be careful of spray cleaners, even ones that say for electrical. Some will attack automotive type plastics, from experience with an electrical cleaner.

Sounds to me like an issue with the PTO switch- when in OFF, the switch may be shorting out. Without looking at the schematic I'm not sure why that would affect the other systems you mentioned. Typically, those type of switches complete a ground when closed to light the light. Perhaps in combination with a failed seat switch? Did the tractor allow you to not be on the seat with the PTO engaged before this new problem?

Well the problem came back today. no amount of wigging or moving the wires returned her to normal. I could feel and hear a clicking from the relays in the fuse box as I hit the start position but I could not isolate it any one. I checked it out and it does start without me in the seat and with the gears in gear but it doesn't move as the clutch is engaged. It will not move unless I take it out of pto lock position then every thing is normal. I used it today to cut 10 Acres of hay and it works fine with the pto locked and engaged. When I turn the key all the lights and beepers and RPM swings all the way and back. I did notice the RPM sticks sometime. Any ideas?
