John deere 301A. Loader valve control pattern

Why would you want it to work backwards ( non standard ) Sometimes there could be a restrictor in line or in a circuit of the valve ? but otherwise should work.

You might do it to test to see if a problem is in the valve or cylinders, but I wouldn't leave it that way. I think your loader lift valve has a float position when pushed fully forward. If you swap the hoses around; when the lever pushed fully forward, the lift will go into float. You could drop the loader on something or someone if you had it up and pushed it too far ahead. In the same line of thought, you won't have a float to follow the ground when the bucket is down if the hoses are reversed.

I would like to change because i am use to john deere excavator controls, when you pull back the boom/loafer lifts up and forward it drops down. It would be good for my muscle memory to change this around.

When you pull back on the control now, the loader arms go down? That info would have changed my previous response. If that is the case I would say someone has it plumbed backwards now and yes swap the hoses around. Is it a separate valve, boom and bucket spools? Does the bucket work right? Pull back or to the left to curl up and ahead or to the right to dump. Most loader boom valves have 4 positions. Pull back should be up, Hold, push ahead to lower, and push fully ahead into a detent for float. Does the valve have a detent to hold the lever if you push the lever all the way forward? That would be float on most loaders, but the valve may have been changed to one without a float position, or the detents are worn out. I would expect the loader arms to drop if you push the lever fully ahead right now if the valve has a float position.

Yes pull back/push down makes bucket go up
and forward/down makes it go up. I think
if i move it to the right then it makes the
bucket dump/ tilt down.

Normally the Joystick control lever should be:
Left for bucket curl up
Right for bucket dump
Back for Boom up
Forward for boom down

If the boom functions are reversed from this, I would change the two boom hoses around. Boom up and down should control function like a excavator. Sounds like it is backwards now.

hope this helps

Does the lever have a detent and lock into position if you push it way ahead (might have to push harder to get by the detent)? That should be the float position when the bucket is down and allows it to "float" on the ground. It is possible you have a valve without float or something has been done to eliminate that feature. Good luck with it.
