brush/bush hog

A quick question about getting the blades off a brush hog I inherited with the new place I've bought. Trying to loosen the nuts just has the whole bolt spinning now, I can't get to the head with my porta-band to saw them off and I'm thinking itwould take a lot of time to torch them off with the blue tip wrench. I'll try holding them with a pipe wrench next. Any other suggestions?

PS Is there a difference between brush hog and bush hog maybe just a regional thing?
Thank. Russ

Brush Hog, Bush Hog, Just different folks talking..... As for the bolt even if you can get a torch to heat the nut to get it red then if you have an old candle hold it to the threads that will suck the wax in between the bolt and nut to help make it easier to get off. Another thing is to get a short pipe to give you extra leverage. Hope this helps!

Bush Hog is actually brand name and registered trademark for their rotary cutters/mowers. Brush hog, brush cutter, rotary cutter, rotary mower, etc. are generic names for like products from other manufacturers.

Along with heating the nut, can you weld a bar to the bolt head to use to hold it from turning?

Brown rotary mowers have a raised ridge on the bolt that fits into grove. Round head on bolt head. Can be a booger without heat.
