Deere 4020 HFWD with JD280 loader

This is a JD 4020 HFWD with a loader on it. It is used every year to load 3 or 4x square bales out of a modified Hesston 4900 baler (or Krone). That is loading about 2.5T at a time.
The front axle casting broke, so now this tractor has a solid axle that is nicely done. The ROPS cage is not too nice, but was necessary because this tractor is used a lot by young drivers and the bales can tip on you, or you can ditch the tractor with the bale trailer (big enough for 18T at a time).
The mounts are homemade, and are not stressing the tractor too much because they go all the way to the trumpets.

Behind it are other nice tractors, and the broken tranny 6030 that we talked earlier (in process of getting the case machined to fix the park pawl).

Anyway, have you seen before a 4020 hidden under this gigantic loader?

Neat!

Where did the heavy axle in the 4020 come from? The ROPS may not be pretty but it'll likely save a ram-rod operator from being crushed......

I'm assuming your 6030 powershift project is a different tractor than the one with the park pawl issues?

The axle was homemade by the owner. Those are not my tractors. The 6030 is the one imported from usa that proven then to have a broken transmission housing at the park pawl support.
He is a good friend and has many 55 series tractor and can reassemble a 15 speeds powershift with eyes shut.
You can see part of his fleet in the movie below. Blades are made by him. He got 3 identical 4960 and 3 identical 4650 that are still working hard (altough right now 2 of the 4955 needs tranny rebuilt).
The powershift project is starting with a junked 5020 and junked 760A. I would not have modified a 6030.
