I finally got my B back together (I replaced the head) - and it fired right up!! A couple questions?
The oil pressure was almost all the way to high on the gauge when it was running at a fast idle. It dropped slightly at a slow idle. Is this concerning?
Also, the water temp got up pretty high and I wasn't working it. It was a super hot day with high humidity - but I didn't think it should be as high?
I also have 2 leaks to deal with - one on the top water pipe and a radiator leak, but I will deal with them.
I would appreciate any thoughts on the high oil pressure and the high water temp. Thanks!!

#1, no problem

#2, if you had antifreeze in it, was it premixed, if not in red would not worry.

#3, unknown.

You are fine with the 50/50, as stated if no water pump they are thermo siphon, so must be clear full.

On my B I run the oil pressure right in the middle between High and Med at full throttle. And at idle it runs a bit above Med.

Did you put new piston rings in? An engine with new rings will run quite a bit hotter. I know my B did after new rings. Another thing to consider is washing out the block, water pipes, and inside and out of the radiator if you haven't done so already. I got a lot of crap out of the system with a pressure washer when I had mine apart. What Mike said about coolant level is also a major factor.

I am an Iowa State grad (1994). I am sure my temp issue was low coolant. The upper pipe has a few pinholes in it and the radiator itself was also leaking a bit. So, I may not have had enough to circulate. I didn't think about the level needing to be high since no pump. I'm not excited about taking that upper pipe off. I may try JB weld, and/or just slit a radiator hose and clamp it on the pipe. It won't be pretty, but should work.
