I guy wants to trade 2955 with 7000 hours two speed only works on low side and has been that way for a couple of years. How much to repair it? Thanks

A lot...trade like he has nothing to trade.. On Dubuque models the Low clutch is spring loaded "On" when you shift to Hi the High clutch pack is hydraulically engaged and the Low is disengaged.. so the High side is most likely cooked completely out...and leaking so badly that it won't release the low pack,,this should also affect the rest of the hydraulic system too...

It has a cab and is MFWD.I haven't heard much good about 2940/2950/2955.Funny JD could build such good tractors in Waterloo and the Dubuque can be so poor in the same period. The 4055/4255/4455 seem to increase in value.

Then it "could" be linkage issues,,that part is flimsy too..the yoke in the console can get sprung out of place to where it won't reach the Hi shift...maybe even have linkage clip that popped off..It is good to hope for the best,,but on these I always expect the worst...and that is the way the story usually ends up...In reality if the Hi clutch failed a lot of Hydraulic issues should be happening..

Yes, they were "But" the blue print was developed in Dubuque..and slightly upgraded from a 1964 2020,, when Deere went Global they set up some plants in Europe..

They are a good tractor. Compare them to other makes which have their own unique problems. Any Mannhiem tractor for sale here always brings at least 10 to 15 percent more than any comparable models. Don't fault the tractor for poor maintenance.

Tim the design actually for the JD 2020 came from across the pond to the US not the other way around. I personally know a couple of the guys that where in the engineering department in the Dubuque plant at the time. JD upper management blamed the 1010 and 2010 issues on the Dubuque engineers. Even thought they had almost a zero budget an little time to throw together a "NEW" tractor to go with the 3010 and 4010 roll out. So the management decided that a "join" design would take place between the Mannheim plant and Dubuque plant. The fellows I talked to said any Dubuque ideas got shot down in favor of the Mannheim team.
