John Deere 730 Diesel Electric Starting

No idea what's the PROPER WAY lol. The ones I owned and farmed with I pulled the compression release and hit the starter n let them spin a little bit n loosen up and get the flywheel spinning BEFORE I dumped the compression. IE I didn't dump the compression as soon as I hit the starter..........Always worked well for me ...........That's my best recollection its been a longgggggggggggg time so no warranty.......Actually that's the one the wife drove, I used my 720 Pony start.

IIRC book says to decompress, push starter button once you see oil pressure release compression release and then push throttle forward off stop position and it should come to life.
They do not want it whirling over spraying in raw fuel without compression. That's why throttle is the last step.

There is a completely different set of steps for hill/barn bank starting ! lol.

I've not paid close attention to "the book" but I think you need the switch on to send "juice" to the start button. In other words, I don't think the start button is "hard-wired" to battery power.
