Sounds like our Model 70 diesels might be of some value.

James....IMHO someone paid too much for it. It needed about $1500 in parts to make it running and whole. Can buy a decent 70 diesel in our area for about $3500 with no surprises. In addition to the mechanical issues, it had poor, mismatched rear tires, incorrect seat assembly, no head lights/bars, rusted out battery box, incorrect steering wheel and several other items that would cost $?s to fix.

I've got one I'd sell for 1500. needs restored. motor loose. pony loose. tires hold air has antifreeze in radiator. restore or parts.

Thanks for the info. The words "On line auction" are outside my range of experience as I have not participated in any (yet). The description of that 70 D that James has highlighted leaves me scratching my head as to what the buyer was thinking. Funny you mentioning $3500 as a price for a good 70 D in your area as that has always been my limit or at least my target price as I have gone a little past that. lol.

Dan...my experience is that 70?s sell quickly at $2500 or less, but slow at $3500 or more. The one at the auction needed at least $1500 in parts that are known to be missing or need fixing. So, you are at $3800 and may be in for surprises when you start working on it. Even with the pony running, matched rear tires, power steering working, etc, etc.......it would be a slow seller just to recover your investment. The 70?s are like buses, if you miss this one there is another one coming. Be a discriminating buyer. :)

Greg....did not see the final bidders, but there were two different buyers bidding late in the auction. Hope they stayed together.
