730 Diesel: Engine Oil in Trans - But Why?

I have a 1958 730 diesel, bought by Dad in ?ok? shape a few
years back. Over time and use, engine oil level drops and
transmission oil level rises. Searching here and elsewhere
indicates it?s not an uncommon problem. But - where is the oil
passing from crankcase to transmission, and how difficult is
the repair (5 hours, 5 days, or punt to Mother Deere)? Why is
this a typical 730 issue and not other models with similar
design? I honestly can?t picture in my mind where that oil
exchange must be happening, so a diagram would earn extra
admiration.

You have a leak at the RH crankshaft seal, Key #26, either the seal itself, or at the main bearing gasket, Key #21.
