How many guys on here ever remember their local JD dealer having the new JD 4wd tractor on the lot in the early 1960's.? When only 100 produced and the considering the number of dealers in that time where were the majority of them shipped to ? Our local dealership had 1 and demonstrated it with the mounted 8 bottom plow, but there were only a ew of those plows made as well.

Iirc 88 of them are accounted for . There is at least one near Walton Ontario.

There was one displayed at the Tulare, California show in 2012 when I was there. Maybe it's shown there every year? I'm not positive, but I think the Kellers have one in their collection near Forest Junction, Wisconsin. It would be an interesting project to research a list of them. Sort of like those that research the Twin City 27-44 which was from the 1920s.

very good questions,, some may never be answered properly.
reason is that john deere had old stock 8020 tractors in inventory right up to 1964-65
i dont think that ontario canada ever got any shipped there new.
but there was quite a few shipped to western canada to farm the big prairie land.
also the fact that they were $32000 approximately brand new not many dealers wanted them or could afford to
have them on their lots.
they have been a fairly good investment.
in the 1990s my father purchased 3 of them.
the first one was going to scrap and it was $1000 bucks.
the other 2 were around $5000 each
the last one we got cost a bit more but it came with a factory 8 furrow plow
it is one of the only original 8020 plows that will go in the ground and do a great job of plowing.
i think there was around 8 or 10 plows all together ever made.
it is also recorded that about half of the tractors were equiped with the 3 point hitch
they are a bit of a mystery tractor and i hope that john deere will stumble across some more documentation on them.
it is known that about 7 8020 tractors were made into the compactor tractor with rear blades and steel wheels
and only a couple pictures of these tractors exist.
