My diesel 3010 is on the last legs of it's clutch. What all is generally replaced when split for the clutch? Have seen two different clutch disc to choose, one look like a normal clutch the other has the clutch pads. Which one do you recommend? Yes the clutch is all out of adjustment on the pedal. Thanks

Lately we have been buying the complete kit which is a reman. pressure plate assembly with two new clutch discs and throwout bearings. You can piece it out cheaper and only replace what is necessary. It might just need a new disc. I would also replace the springs as well. As far as which disc most companies will not warranty the woven discs anymore. They want you to put in a button clutch. AG Parts has a new button clutch that I like (we have installed five so far) the buttons are different thickness on each side. It provides much smoother engagement that the older button clutches. The old style button clutches were very jumpy and when they went bad tended to eat the flywheel and the clutch plate. While your tractor is split for a clutch take a good look at the rear engine seal as well. There also is a fiber washer that sets in the end of the crankshaft that acts as a bumper for the clutch shaft that we always replace. Inspect the clutch pins in the flywheel for wear as they get grooves that can cause the clutch not work as well. With a Deere service book and the clutch adjusting tool you can do the job yourself. The parts can be had for real close to my dealer wholesale cost off of Ebay. Tom

Don't forget to tell him to have the flywheel resurfaced by a shop that has the specs and knowhow to keep the "step" distance correct.

Dad bought a 2640 years ago that had a new clutch but would not move. The shop cut the flywheel wrong and the clutch slipped. The last two 4020's we just put new flywheels in them as they were grooved and needed new pins as well. Tom

I have used Fort Wayne clutch and driveline for the last several I have installed and have been very pleased. Kit comes complete with new pilot bearing, drive clutch throw out bearing, pto clutch bearing, pressure plate fingers adjusted, and aligning tool. Easy people to work with and offer a couple different friction disks depending on tractor use. They also send a label to send the core back so that is taken care of too. I put a Kevlar clutch in the 4320 since it runs a round baler and has a loader and is supposed to handle it better. My 4010 has a standard clutch since it doesn't do all the starting and stopping.

I will second Ft.Wayne Clutch & driveline. Sent them a clutch out of an old KB series IHC pickup and they fixed me right up with everything will contact them for the driveline as well when that time come. great folks to work with.
