I have a 4020 in the shop that was changed to 12 volt and would like to get the fuel guage working. I ordered a new guage that is 12 volt neg. ground from my parts supplier. What part number sender for in the tank do I need? My parts aftermarket parts place does not carry them. Tom

They are but positive and negative ground do make a difference in the gauge used. Sender doesn't care which ground system it is so same one you have should work fine provided it works.

However early used 10 ohm GM type and later used 300 ohm type. Will certainly make a difference if gauge ordered is for the wrong type. Part number might help.

Thanks that is what I wanted. I wasn't sure if it mattered to the sender or not. I did see the different senders listed and the difference between the early and late ones. Tom

Seems like the last time I installed a 4020 12V conversion kit from JD..the destructions had some part number recommendations for fuel guage and senders if the originals did not work.

I had to swap both parts and also ground the tank sender to get the system to work.

Thanks for the replies. I am very electrically challenged. I hate wiring. I had to work on a 24 volt last week and just fixing the lights made me want to burn it. Tom

Yes the senders are the same,,but over time ,,sloshing back and forth on rough ground wears them out..
