remote receptacle won't release

Got the wood splitter working - thank you all for your input. Now I have a new problem. What I am going to call a receptacle on one of the remotes seems to be stuck in. In other words, the ring with the ball bearings on the inlet side won't come out that 3/8 inch or so the bearings won't spring-load around my hose end. It had not been used for awhile; I can see no way to grab it with anything to pull it out, and I don't know if this would be a solution anyway. Any ideas?

Barrel on breakaway coupler not moving far enough to rear to release male hyd coupler is a common problem. Take a hammer & tap barrel rearward so that male coupler gets released. There was a post the other day about an aftermarket lever assembly that was marketed to solve this problem.

a thought....
my 1070 does that occasionally when the backhoe is mounted. I fought it for hours one day then discovered the pressure relief valve.

They get sticky when not used much,,you can tap the back of it to make it move

Does the 1070 have a pressure relief valve that you can manually momentarily open to make connecting & disconnecting hydraulic lines easier? I wonder if my 855 has that feature? If so, I've never discovered it. Sometimes when I have trouble connecting an implement hose because of too much pressure trapped in it, I put a rag over the end of it's coupler and give it a couple of taps with a hammer. It squirts a little oil and the pressure is relieved and then hooks up easily. But that's on the implement side of things, not the tractor side. For pressure relief on the tractor side, I shut the engine off, move the control lever back & forth to relieve pressure before attempting to hook up.

I too am recently having trouble with the release/lock rings on the tractor's couplers lot locking back. That makes connecting implement couplers more difficult. I'm thinking that the problem my be dust/dirt in that circle of little steel lock/release balls. Next good opportunity I plan on giving that area a good bath with an aerosol can of WD-40 while working the ring back and forth.

I thank you all in advance for answers to some pretty simple questions; I'm not real familiar with this stuff. For
starters, on my 2630, how full should I have the hydro fluid? There's no dipstick that I can see and I don't want to
over-fill if this is a possibility. I can bring it all the way up to the filler cap if this is the idea.
Also, I thought that I had the splitter going OK, but might be experiencing what I gather is cavitation: my hoses
are shuddering/vibrating. Now I've had two reasonably credible people tell me it's OK just to tarp strap my remote
lever back to prevent it from kicking back into neutral once I get the splitter in operation. But I keep coming back
to the open center vs closed center thing that I believe TX Jim brought up a few days ago. My valve is a Prince LI
3000-1, which the mfg says cannot be plugged to create a closed-center unit.
Also - and I know folks go all over with this one - can I put something (anything) other than JD hydro fluid in
the tractor? It just seems JD wants top dollar for everything, and I can just see the same fluid coming out of the
same refinery and people putting different price tags on it. Is the stuff you get at Tractor Supply or the local
Mobil/Exxon dealer just as good?

Every JD utility tractor I've seen built between '65-'92 had a hyd oil dipstick on RH side of trans case located close to right heel when operator was sitting in seat. Correct method to check hyd oil level on a 2630 is with dipstick nut resting on threads with engine idling & oil at full mark.

Sorry, no. I didn't communicate well that the pressure relief is on the backhoe itself.
It was the general principal I was trying to convey. I honestly don't know if there is a like relief fitting on the tractor. I don't think so.

Shut engine off turn breakaway on , now move scv lever back and forward to relieve oil pressure now turn breakaway off . If you still cannot remove hose reach in front of breakaway and pull or tap receptacle to the rear . If the ball bearings are rusted into the receptacle try pulling on the hose and twisting .
