John Deere model M head

I'm getting ready to reinstall the head on my model Model M. My question is there was a type of washer on the
gasket side of the head in the middle that restricts the water through the round passage. Is that orifice/washer
required? I kind of figured that it would come with a new head gasket set so I popped it out now I think it's ruined.

Take a look at the diagram below.

Reviewed the [b:654c4848f0]SERVICE MANUAL FOR JOHN DEERE DEALER MODEL "M" TRACTOR[/b:654c4848f0] under the [i:654c4848f0]Install Cylinder Head and Gasket[/i:654c4848f0] topic on page 60-15-10.

It does not mention the cylinder head plug.

Depending on availability and price, you might consider replacing the cylinder head plug.

Hope this helps.
