5020 starting and charging systems help

A friend asked me to look at a 5020 he bought to see if the wiring is ok. I have been thru some of tom D classes at gathering of the green but I can not find the handouts he sent home with me. Thought it would be easier to just post, Could anybody share wiring schematics. i need to refresh my memory. This tractor does have a Motorola alt on it, and we are starting with new battery's and will be cleaning all connections. What size battery cables should there be on this tractor? thankyou

Is this 12v or 24V? Makes a big difference!

I worked on a 5020 two years ago and the battery cables were 02 guage 12 v system

sorry it is 24v alt and starter and pos ground

Are you sure of the positive ground? If it's a true 24 V system, the 24 Volt part has no chassis ground. I'm not familiar with a 5020 so maybe you have a true chassis-ground 24 volt system.

well i ran the battery ground to the stud on the starter solenoid and the pos battery cable to the rear end cap of the starter. i am assuming this tractor is pos ground?

This is how the batteries were attached to starter on 5020 up through serial number >024,999 .

No actual ground for starter or alternator operation. Wire(parts key 13) is ground for accessories that operate on 12 volts.
