510 baler lower belts

Gerrtings,

I need to replace the lower belts. Deere wants $180/belt there are generics available for $108.

I thought this would be an excellent place to get an explanation on why the Deere belt is worth the higher price.

Only 4 need replacement but I think it would be best to replace all 7.

Your experience and wisdom are appreciated

Can't help you on the price difference besides OEM is typically higher than aftermarket. I will say replace all 7 as I USED to have a 510 baler. We replaced 1 in the spring and then all 7 at the end of the year. To much trouble not to put all new in. The new ones will be different lengths than the old ones and track different.

I'm not sure how far into the baler you are or if you got it cheap but I recommend running it as is until it quits and upgrading to a later model open throat baler if your operation allows. For 4-6k around here you could have a good baler. You can buy a closed throat from dirt cheap and have any of them in great condition from $2000-$3000. Just my 2 cents.
