8440 oil pan removal?

Wanting to remove oil pan to fix an oil leak. Will removing the front deferential with support get me there without rolling the frame rails. I will try to post a pic to explain what I'm thinking. I know it's a big job either way. I need to work on the front end pivot as well, so I was hoping this was the way to go. Thanks in advance, for anyone that can be of help.

Yes that will let the oil pan come down..it's a big job and be sure you crib things up good to be safe,,if it drops it will squash the bug Juice out of you..

We blocked up an 8630 with a heavy home made bracket bolted to frame, removed front wheels and lowered differential assy with "A" frame that had 2 chain lifts, then rolled diff out with floor jack. As Tim said, big job, I'll think twice before doing another.

4-10 on the bug juice. I've got plenty of steel and know where to get more to build stands. I will build something for the center like in the book, and then build a stand for the nose as well. One other question. Having problems getting this thing to pick oil back up after it ran low. Changed filters and pulled the rear sump screen. Nothing major gunk wise. Then learned of a second sump screen in the drop box in front of trans case, that charges the trans pump on back of clutch housing. My question is, is there a pump under the rockshaft housing like a 2wd tractor? If not where does the oil leaving that filter housing go, and how does it get there? Craig

Yes there is a lube pump under the rockshaft, and the charge oil pump is behind the filter in the front hinge, there are 3 sump screens in that tractor. I never drop the front frame out on them,, i split the side frames loose and roll the front out from under the engine for engine repair, getting ready to do an 8450 engine here soon, it's in the driveway now waiting.
