JD 430W Wiring Help

I recently purchased a 1959 JD 430W that has been sitting for five years. It has a GM 3-wire alternator on it in place of the generator and whoever wired it in didn't care much for neatness or good quality wire. They also removed the headlight switch in the process. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that they would be willing to share with me to get it going again?

Take a look at the OEM diagram below.

Note that the OEM diagram displays a generator.

Thank you James. The pictures of your 40 will be a big help. Is there a difference between using the exciter switch and not wiring that circuit and running the engine up to 900-1000 RPM after the oil pressure comes up?

I'm familiar with the Farmall/IH generator wiring schematics but I wasn't sure how similar the JD wiring was to those. I've done full rewire on a Farmall A and an IH I-4, so this will be a straight-forwards weekend project.
 
The exciter switch is for a three wire Delco. A one wire doesn't need it but you do need the rpm's to kick it in which doesn't always work so well on a low rpm Deere. The three wire is cheaper and more dependable.

I use an oil pressure sending unit to excite mine with power from the big alt stud. As soon as pressure builds it charges and is completely removed from the circuit once pressure is lost. One wire back to the amp gauge. There's lots of way's to do it.
 
I'm a little late getting back to everyone. I've been a little busy around the house and haven't gotten over to the tractor until this week.

The mention of the oil pressure sensor gave me an idea. My tractor has the key switch and the ignition/headlight switch. Is there any reason that I couldn't energize the alternator with relay switched off of the key? That would clean up the wiring, prevent a new hole in my dash, and be easily hidden in the wiring harness.

I'll draw everything out and post a picture in another reply.
